Free Online Audio Stem Separator
Quick & easy stem separation for audio files

Maztr's free online Audio Stem Separator is a quick and easy tool you can use right in your browser, without downloading any software, to isolate the vocals and instrumental streams or other elements such as drums, bass and piano, from your mp3, .wav, .aac, .aiff, .flac and .wma audio files. No account or login is required to use it.

Audio separation is also known as a vocal remover, karaoke maker (instrumental only) or acapella maker (voice only). In its simplest form, you can use audio stem separation to split a track into separate vocals and accompaniment, or alternatively, dial up the separation to 4 or 5 stems.

The process is highly CPU intensive, so processing can take a few minutes per track. The results mostly depend on the quality of the source audio files you upload, and some audio files and formats simply separate better than others.

What is Audio Stem Separation?

Stem Separation splits the final mix of an audio track into its discrete audio elements, such as vocals, drums, bass and piano. The resulting stem tracks, also known as split tracks or simply stems, will typically be stereo audio files containing the isolated components of each particular element. Each stem track will have the identical length, starting point and audio file type of the original mix track.

Why do I need Audio Stems?

Audio stems can help you create karaoke tracks, isolate an instrument for music practise or tuition, collaborate with other artists, create music remixes or generally boost your musical creativity. Stems allow you to repurpose elements from one track to use in another. You can easily boost the tempo, loop a melody or replace an element with something new to create a unique sound.

What is the Karaoke effect?

Some people call the process of removing vocals the Karaoke effect, which allows the resulting instrumental track to be used for Karaoke purposes.

Is the Stem Separation process perfect?

Sometimes no. Occasionally, artifacts or audio crossover can be heard on some tracks, however you may be able to clean up some imperfections by mastering the separated output files through your Maztr account or using our Audio File Cleaner if you don't have an account.
